What is included in web design services?

- Custom design, not a recolored template. Built around your business and your customers.
- Works on every screen. Phones, tablets and laptops. This is the baseline, not an extra.
- Easy to use. Visitors find what they need fast and know what to do next.
- Photos and graphics that fit your brand, whether yours, stock or made for you.
- Your brand on every page. Same logo, colors, fonts and tone throughout.
- Your content in place. Text, photos, reviews and videos added to each page.
- A clear next step on every page, like call, book or get a quote.
- Simple menus so nobody gets lost.
- Search basics. Page titles, headings, descriptions, image alt text and structured data, plus a sitemap sent to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.
- Browser testing in Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox.
- Speed work. Google's pass mark is the main content showing in 2.5 seconds or less. Image compression and caching get you there.
- A final check. Every link clicked, every form sent, every page read for typos.
- Launch. Domain connected, security certificate (SSL) working, old pages redirected so you keep your Google traffic.
- Help after launch. Someone to call when something breaks or a plugin update goes wrong.
What should a web design quote spell out?
The list above is what the work covers. These are the details that change the price, so a good quote names each one:

What is often not included in a web design package?
These are the items that surprise people later. Ask about each one:
- Writing the content. Many quotes assume you send all the text.
- Photos. Stock photo licenses or a photo shoot may cost extra.
- Hosting and your domain. These are yearly or monthly costs, separate from the build.
- Moving an old site, including redirecting old pages so you keep your Google traffic.
- Paid plugins for booking, forms or a store.
- Updates and fixes after launch. Some designers hand you the keys and move on.
