Question 1

Why is my website not showing up on Google?

Accepted Answer

Usually because Google has not found it, has been told not to show it, or ranks it too low to see. Check the WordPress Settings > Reading box, search site:yourbusiness.com, and look at URL Inspection in Search Console.

Question 2

How do I check if Google has indexed my site?

Accepted Answer

Search Google for site:yourbusiness.com. For one page, paste its address into URL Inspection in Google Search Console, which says whether it is indexed and why not.

Question 3

How long does it take for Google to index a new website?

Accepted Answer

Often a few days to a few weeks. Google says to wait at least a week after you submit a sitemap or ask it to index a page.

Question 4

How do I get Google to index my website faster?

Accepted Answer

Submit your sitemap in Google Search Console, then use URL Inspection to request indexing for your homepage and main pages, once each. Asking again will not make it faster. Links from other sites help too.

Question 5

Why does my site show up for my name but not my services?

Accepted Answer

Your site is indexed, but it does not rank yet for service searches. That is an SEO problem: the pages need better content, links and local signals.

Question 6

How do I stop Google from indexing a page?

Accepted Answer

Add a noindex tag to the page, which most SEO plugins can do for you. Do not block the page in robots.txt instead, because then Google cannot see the noindex tag.

Question 7

How do I get my business name to show up on Google?

Accepted Answer

Set up and verify a free Google Business Profile, and make sure your website is indexed. Searches for your name then show your profile and your site.

Question 8

Does E-E-A-T affect whether my site shows up?

Accepted Answer

Not directly. E-E-A-T stands for experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust. It is what Google's human reviewers are told to look for, not a setting or a score. Pages that show real experience and real facts tend to do better.

Question 9

Will Google index content written with AI?

Accepted Answer

It can. Google says AI content is fine when it is helpful. Large batches of pages that say nothing new are what get skipped, or count as spam.

Question 10

Is it bad if some pages are not indexed?

Accepted Answer

Not always. Google skips pages it sees as duplicates or low value, like tag pages. Your homepage and service pages should be indexed.

Question 11

Does Google charge to index my website?

Accepted Answer

No. Indexing is free. Paying for ads does not get your site indexed or ranked in the regular results.
