What it means

The company is not on the map anywhere

In every town and every search we checked, the company does not appear, and a search for its own name shows no map listing. That usually means there is no verified Google Business Profile. Without one, the company cannot appear in the map pack, which shows above everything else on almost every local flooring search.

Two kinds of map winners

  • Big stores (Floor and Decor, 50Floor, Carr's) win "flooring" and "flooring store" with hundreds or thousands of reviews and a showroom. Hard to beat.
  • Small installers win "flooring installation" with 22 to 53 reviews and a 5.0 rating. This is the realistic target.

The plan

  1. Create and verify the Business Profile, category Flooring contractor, service area set to the 7 towns.
  2. Add services, hours and 20 or more real job photos.
  3. Ask every customer from the last year for a review; aim for 25 or more genuine 5-star reviews.
  4. Reply to every review, and post a job photo every week.
  5. Match the name, address and phone on Thumbtack, Houzz, Angi, Yelp and the BBB.
