Standard package: 5 work orders

Work orders

Each work order is one item on the to-do list: why it matters, the exact steps, and how to know it is done.

Do first

Each work order is scored on impact (how much it should help) and effort (time and skill). Start with high impact and low effort.

WO 4: Get named by AI toolsMediumMediumWeeks 9 to 12

WO 1: Remove the hidden keywords and fix the headings

Impact: HighEffort: LowTime: 1 to 2 hoursWho: Your web person

Why

Hidden text breaks Google's spam rules and can hold back the whole site. Pages without a main heading do not tell Google their topic.

Steps

  1. On the homepage, find the hidden block that lists "dentist, dentistry, dentists, Dentist near me, Family dentist, General..." and delete it.
  2. Change the homepage main heading from "Dentist, Dentist Milton Ga, Dentists Near Milton Ga, Dentist" to "Family and Cosmetic Dentist in Milton, GA".
  3. Add one main heading (H1) to each of these pages: /dental-exams/ ("Dental Exams in Milton, GA"), /dental-fillings/ ("Tooth-Colored Fillings"), /dental-x-rays/ ("Digital Dental X-Rays"), /smile-restoration/ ("Smile Restoration"), /teeth-cleaning/ ("Teeth Cleaning in Milton and Alpharetta"), /blog/ ("Dental Health Articles").
  4. Link to /important-terms/ from the footer, or remove the page if it is not needed.
  5. Ask Google to re-check the homepage in Search Console (URL Inspection, Request indexing).

Done when: the homepage has no hidden text, and each page above has exactly one H1.

WO 2: New titles and descriptions

Impact: HighEffort: LowTime: 30 minutesWho: Your web person or office manager

Why

The title and description are what people read in Google before they click. Today the homepage title is stuffed and out of date.

Steps

  1. In your SEO plugin, replace each title with the suggested one in the table below.
  2. Replace the homepage description with: "Family, cosmetic and restorative dentistry for Milton and Alpharetta. New patients welcome. Call to book your visit."
  3. Keep every title under about 60 characters and every description under about 155, so Google shows them in full.

/teeth-cleaning/Teeth Cleaning in Milton and Alpharetta, GA | [Practice Name]
/dental-exams/Dental Exams in Milton, GA | [Practice Name]

/smile-restoration/Smile Restoration: Crowns and Veneers in Milton, GA | [Practice Name]
/dental-x-rays/Digital Dental X-Rays in Milton, GA | [Practice Name]

Done when: every page in the table shows its new title in the browser tab.

WO 3: Business schema and article authors

Impact: HighEffort: MediumTime: 2 to 3 hoursWho: Your web person

Why

Schema is the code that tells Google and AI tools "this is a dental practice, here is the address, hours and phone." 15 to 16 of the 28 pages AI tools cited for these searches have it. This site has none.

Steps

  1. Remove the broken Dentist schema block on the homepage (it is pasted inside another code block) and replace it with the one below, filled in with your real details.
  2. Add the same Dentist schema, plus the service name, to each service page.
  3. Turn on Article schema for blog posts in your SEO plugin, with the author set to the dentist.
  4. Show the author's name and a one-line bio on every article (126 posts today show no author).
  5. Add the dentist's name, the year the practice opened, and a one-line description to the About page and the footer.
  6. Test the homepage in Google's Rich Results Test.

  "@type": "Dentist",
  "name": "[Practice Name]",
  "url": "https://yourpractice.com/",
  "telephone": "[phone]",

              "addressLocality": "Milton", "addressRegion": "GA", "postalCode": "[zip]"},

  "areaServed": ["Milton", "Alpharetta"],
  "founder": {"@type": "Person", "name": "[Dentist name], DMD"},
  "sameAs": ["[Google Business Profile URL]", "[Zocdoc URL]", "[Healthgrades URL]"]
}

Done when: the Rich Results Test shows a Dentist item with your address, and every article names its author.

WO 4: Get named by AI tools

Impact: MediumEffort: MediumTime: 3 to 5 hours, then ongoingWho: Office manager, with your web person for step 1

Why

AI tools answer "who is the best dentist near me" with a short list of practices, each with an address, hours and phone, often pulled from directories. The practice is in none of those answers today.

Steps

  1. Add a short "Practice details" box near the top of the homepage and every service page: address, hours (say clearly if you open on Saturday), phone, and the dentist's name.
  2. Claim or complete your listings on the directories AI tools cited: Zocdoc, Healthgrades, WebMD Care, Birdeye and Yelp. Use exactly the same name, address and phone as the website.
  3. Complete your Google Business Profile: categories, hours, services, photos. Ask recent patients for a review.
  4. Move the list of services into the first screen of the homepage. Today whitening is first mentioned about 1,560 words down; the pages AI cites say it within about 270 words.
  5. Add a link from each article to the service page it is about (131 pages have none today).

Done when: the practice appears on each listed directory with matching details, and the practice details box is live on every service page.

WO 5: Speed up the homepage on phones

Impact: MediumEffort: MediumTime: 2 to 4 hoursWho: Your web person

Why

Google's target is to show the main content within 2.5 seconds on a phone. The homepage takes 6.0 seconds and weighs 20.5 MB; Teeth Cleaning takes 7.7 seconds.

Steps

  1. Find the largest images on the homepage and resize them to the size they are shown at.
  2. Convert images to WebP and turn on lazy loading for everything below the first screen.
  3. Make sure the first image on the page is not lazy-loaded, so it shows first.
  4. Run Google's PageSpeed Insights on the phone setting again and compare.

Done when: the homepage weighs under 3 MB and shows its main content in under 2.5 seconds on PageSpeed Insights (phone).
